GLOBAL NEWS: US immigration crackdown fuels interest in Canada
Alastair Clarke was featured in recent reports by Global News from the recent violence in the US. If you read this space, you know that the team at CIL work every day to help people come to Canada and stay in Canada. That includes Americans as well as non-Americans in the United States. Many people who contact our office are afraid based on the violence. They do not feel safe in the USA and the American government is not protecting its residents. We have folks contact our office who are worried about “civil war”, who are afraid of ICE agents, who are afraid of racist and discrimination and who are trying to find a safe home for their families.

CIL helps people find a safe home in Canada. That is what we do. It is clear that Canada cannot take everyone who wants to move here. There is high demand to immigrate to Canada. The Liberal government has been rebalancing its programs and the current system is very competitive.
Americans can file a refugee claim in Canada. That is possible. Under the current regime, it is clear that many Americans are being targeted by their government and they cannot avail themselves of state protection.
As noted by Global News:
The ongoing immigration crackdown sweeping through the United States has cast uncertainty over the future for many living south of the border, prompting some to look north for options in Canada.

“I get calls almost every day from people in the U.S. who are looking to move to Canada,” said immigration and refugee lawyer Alastair Clarke, noting many inquiries are coming from Minnesota and from Venezuelans living in the U.S.
That is correct. CIL has seen a huge increase in calls from Americans as well as people in the USA who are seeking to move to Canada.
