RNIP Update
Increasingly, IRCC has been focused on regional migration. The federal government recognizes the one-plan-for-all approach does not work well across Canada. The labour market needs in Manitoba are quite different than those in BC and also distinct from the needs of businesses in Ontario. To that end, IRCC has been unveiling and supporting smaller, focused immigration programs. From our perspective, we applaud the government’s shift in focus.
We specialize in applications in Manitoba. We have strong connections to businesses and communities in our province. When we get clients who are seeking to apply under the OINP program or the AAIP (formerly the AINP), we refer those clients to our learned colleagues in those provinces.
The RNIP program is focused on supporting businesses in smaller communities across Canada. Manitoba has two (2) such communities and we have strong ties to those communities.
We regularly get potential clients who are interested in the RNIP program. They may have connections to Altona, Brandon or other communities. We love helping clients come to Manitoba to build these regions. Businesses in these regions have unique needs and particular circumstances.
Regarding timelines, here is a sample timeline of an applicant through the RNIP program:
- Filed Step 1 to RNIP: March 15, 2022
- Filed Step 2 – PR application to IRCC: May 2, 2022
- AOR from IRCC received: May 15, 2022
- Work Permit filed online to IRCC: May 26, 2022
- Work Permit approved by Visa Officer: June 22, 2022
- PR approved: August 18, 2022
The above timeline was provided by our esteemed colleague Brenda Wong who practices in Toronto. If you have questions about the RNIP program in Ontario, we would advise you to contact her for assistance.
We have helped many clients come to smaller communities in Manitoba to settle. We look forward to continuing this work.
