TEDx Winnipeg 2024
If you read this site, you will know CIL’s strong connections with TEDx Winnipeg. In 2018, Alastair Clarke gave his TEDx talk, “Imagine No Countries: Challenging Borders Through Personal Connections”. We have heard many positive comments from clients who saw Alastair’s TEDx talk on YouTube. CIL continues to be involved with TEDx Winnipeg. In 2024, Alastair volunteered to support all the speakers and presenters at the event.
TEDx Winnipeg was suspended for a few years due to COVID-19, similar to many other organizations. In this case, however, the organizers of TEDx lost contact and the lack of continuity between the events from year to year had a significant impact.
Notwithstanding the above, TEDxWinnipeg was an amazing event and the speakers were amazing. I was speaking with the organizers and they received many, many proposals. One organizer mentioned that they had enough high-caliber speakers to do two (2) TEDx events.
I have to give credit to Avery-Anne Gervais, Volunteer Coordinator. She did an amazing job to get all the volunteers organized and on track. We had a dedicated group of volunteers to support the presenters and make sure all the little things were taken care of.
I also have to give credit to Dwight Macaulay, who coached two (2) TEDx speakers this year. Dwight was Alastair’s coach in 2018 for his TEDx talk and Dwight is a great coach. He is also, of course, a wonderful Marriage Commissioner and he has helped many of our clients get married per Manitoba law.
Hopefully you were able to attend TEDxWinnipeg this year. If you missed it, we are already thinking about 2025. It is planned to be at the same location: Prairie Theatre Exchange, which is located next to CIL. Alastair actually went back and forth to our office in the Power Building to get supplies. It is very convenient having TEDx so close to our office!
