Congratulations Justice Diner!

CIL commends the decision to appoint Justice Diner as the new Chief Justice of the Federal Court. The announcement was made public through the Prime Minister’s news release:

Today, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, announced the appointment of the Honourable Alan S. Diner, a judge of the Federal Court, as the new Chief Justice of the Federal Court.

Alastair Clarke has spoken with Justice Diner many times over the years. They have both been involved with the CBA Immigration section and they have both given many presentations at conferences. To be clear, they have never presented on the same panel. Justice Diner has been very active with the legal community, including the Bench and Bar Committee, adding his insight related to immigration issues. As you may be aware, the vast majority of cases at the Court are immigration matters.

Congratulations to Justice Diner on his appointment. He brings energy, expertise and clear decision-making to this position.
